Giving Back to the Community We Love
As a family owned and operated company, btel is proud to support local youth sports and offer college scholarships.
On September 20, 2018, Btel’s own Johnny Greenberg was awarded the FIRST ever Humanitarian Award from the Brazoria Chamber of Commerce. Being a Humanitarian is described as having concern for, or helping to improve the welfare and happiness of people. From donating countless dollars to local organizations, being part of Btel’s FTTH project, to a significant list of other accomplishments. Johnny is very deserving of this award and Btel is so proud to have a leader like you. Thank you for continuing to invest in our communities and residents.
Hurricane Harvey Heroes
Congratulations to Btel’s Hurricane Harvey Heroes! One year post Harvey Kenneth Goolsby, Rick Patterson, Russell Brigance and Randy Hall were honored at a ceremony on Saturday August 25th. During the storm, Btel’s immediate efforts focused on maintaining the network to preserve critical service for 911 accessibility and communications. Btel’s emergency crews, along with the assistance of contract labor worked continuously 7 days a week. Many worked over 12 hours a day from September 11th to November 3rd (8 weeks) in incredibly challenging conditions to maintain service and repair or replace damaged facilities. Emergency Crews focused first on the areas where customers were not displaced from their homes and finished by restoring facilities to areas where customers are working to rebuild. Thank you to all of the heroes during Hurricane Harvey- your efforts mattered then, and they still matter today.
Shop with a cop
Btel was proud to donate $500 to the first annual Shop With a Cop program hosted by the Brazoria Police Department!
Shop with a cop pairs officers with underprivileged elementary school students to build positive relationships while shopping for holiday gifts. The unique experience will help students form a relationship with law enforcement, making it less likely for the children to get in trouble with the law and more likely to seek help from police when they need it. Thank you to the Brazoria Police Department for always keeping us safe and volunteering your time to shop with these kids!

Hurricane Harvey Heroes
btel was able to help well over 200 of our customers devastated by the flooding. We thank all donors that made the fund possible. Brazoria Telephone Human Resources Generalist Tricia Ditto said the company, an independent area telecommunications provider, saw an immediate outpouring of support during flooding. Other business leaders called President Charlie Greenberg to offer donations, and btel promptly set up the btel Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund on Youcaring.com. “Donations to the site plus miscellaneous donations totaled just over $60,000,” Ditto said. “Two btel employees received disbursements to help with recovery of their flooded homes, Chad Thoe and Irma McKinney. A committee of btel employees was formed to determine how the remaining balance would be distributed.” The committee used records from phone calls and account suspensions to create a list of more than 200 people eligible for disbursement funds. Some refused to accept them, asking to pass them on to those in more need. Others came to the office and took home cash to help ease the hard times a little. As long as funds remained, the list grew.
