Install and Repair Supervisor

Technician Responsibilities

• Install & maintain all aspects of communications systems including Twisted Pair Copper, Fiber Optics, and COAX Cable, facilities and equipment, centralized and distributed communications systems, and all peripheral equipment
• Provide technical system support and capabilities including but not limited to installation, maintenance, modification and repair of communications equipment, products and/or systems
• Understand methods involved with connecting phone, VOIP, internet, FTTX, and video service
• Troubleshoot and repair communications equipment such as cable boxes, external modems, wireless modems, ONTs, and phone systems
• Review work orders to move, change, install, repair or remove communication equipment
• Take care of installation, modification and repair of voice, data and video communications
• Install, maintain and service customer premise equipment. Typically drop wires, station protectors and network interface devices.
• Perform initial wiring or rewiring for new subscriber systems
• Install and maintain multiline VOIP managed systems, PBX, and other equipment
• Locate underground facilities
• Market, sell, install and maintain video, internet and phone equipment at customers premise
• Interface with customer, ensuring trouble tickets lead to acceptable and timely resolution
• Measure signal strength at amplifiers and terminal boxes, and determine the resistance needed for appropriate signal impedance
• Place and maintain cable within the underground conduit system.
• Place direct buried cable using digging and trenching equipment
• Perform various aerial-cable duties, such as installation and removal
• Install messenger strands and transfer cable and equipment from old to new poles
• Reinforces Btel’s mission statement and Core Values
• Maintains an environment of delivering superior customer service
• Effectively leads all technicians in their daily duties
• Provide performance feedback and conduct reviews for all technicians
In addition, the I & R Supervisor coordinates with the Director of Operations, solving problems, mentoring, and supervising technicians, and conducting training.

Technician Requirements and Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1+ years of experience installing, maintaining, and repairing of Copper, COAX, and FTTX communications networks
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving history
• Communication skills with the ability to successfully collaborate with other members of the team
• Solid problem-solving capabilities
• Commitment to abiding by OSHA and all other safety standards and procedures
• Ability to identify different colors and learn color codes
• Ability to work at heights and lift 30+ pounds
